INSTITUTO hosted a set of sessions of the show FECHADO by Associação Caracol de Corrida, a microtheatre presented by Daniela Vieitas.
CLOSED
In a stairwell, a researcher, employed by an unknown entity, asks for participants for a study about the Memory of the City and thanks those who agree to take part.
A relationship is forged between the researcher, perhaps actress, and the respondent, perhaps audience.
The inquiry reveals short stories of past and future times. Times before Freedom. Failing to learn from the memory of places can prompt a return to more undesirable times: “Do you think it could happen again?”. Some say “no way”, others say “yes, I’m afraid so”.
Daniela Veitas
Straddling Portugal and Angola, Daniela Vieitas is an actress who aims to produce theatre that provokes, engages and awakens the restlessness in us all. Theatre that forms part of life because it does not end at the venue, but accompanies the audience in their feelings and thoughts. It is micro theatre, it is invisible, but it is, above all, theatre.
Daniela Vieitas studied at Balleteatro in Porto and has worked with directors such as Lígia Roque, Graeme Pulleyn, José Carretas, Jo Roets and Steve Johnston, among others. She has collaborated with Teatro do Montemuro and Teatro Ao Largo. She is a member of Associação Caracol de Corrida, which works in the areas of theatre, literature and visual arts.
