12.12.2024
INSTITUTO hosted the launch of BUREAU – Short Stories. Pieces of Architecture, the first publication to bring together the work of BUREAU, a studio whose practice operates at the intersection of architecture, scenography, design, landscape, and education.
Published by Park Books, the book was presented in a conversation with André Tavares, Carine Pimenta, Daniel Zamarbide, Dulcineia Santos, and Paulo Moreira, who discussed the ideas and challenges underlying the studio’s projects.
Short Stories gathers short texts by architects and researchers such as Fabrizio Gallanti, André Tavares, Marina Otero Verzier, Ava Violich-Kennedy, and Amir Halabi; curator and critic Tirdad Zolghadr; designer and curator Alexandra Midal; and Daniel Zamarbide. Around 360 images, accompanied by concise information on the buildings and projects presented by BUREAU, complete this publication, which documents over a decade of practice and research.
With offices in Geneva and Lisbon, BUREAU is led by architects Daniel Zamarbide and Carine Pimenta, and visual artist, designer, and educator Galliane Zamarbide. Founded in 2012, the studio focuses on building new structures and rehabilitating existing ones, as well as interior and furniture design, exhibition making, and the creation of inhabitable sculptures and temporary pavilions.
