NÃO É NADA É ISTO TUDO
Guarda Rios
Between the functional and the experimental, the mapping and the game, ethics and aesthetics, the utopian and the dystopian, lies part of the questioning of Guarda Rios collective regarding the way capital has been instrumentalizing the natural world, in particular, rivers.
The inadequate management of water, the growing drought, the harmful impacts of industries and hydroelectric plants, mass tourism and the threats to native forests reflect the consequences of the abandonment of the interior and the devaluation of ancestral cultures of proximity with their surroundings. These are issues that the collective has been mapping since 2019, traveling through geographies ranging from the interior to the coast and from north to south of the country.
INSTITUTO inaugurates a new cycle of exhibitions by this collective, in which the following questions are posed:
How to translate in the exhibition format issues that are by nature systemic, such as ecology, land management or activism?
How to translate into images, objects, sounds a project that involves the participation of people, whose energy lives from improvisation and experimentation?
Is the connection between Aesthetics and Ethics really possible?
Exhibition: 23.10 – 19.11.2021, from 3pm till 7pm
