RAS·A
01.01.2019 - 31.12.2019
RAS·A is a Porto-based collective of architects with a particular focus on space and territory. They believe that their work contributes to fixing places and communities before producing consumer goods.
“We spent 2019 in residence at INSTITUTO. Not only does it offer an extremely cosy space, ‘hidden’ at the heart of Porto, but the experience itself was highly fulfilling due to the nature of the space and its programme, based on knowledge sharing and a range of activities associated with but not limited to architecture. One example of this community spirit were the lunches we had every Tuesday, where we shared ideas, memories and stories, as well as a good meal, in an informal setting.
During our time at INSTITUTO, we attended events, helping to prepare and organise several of them, and were even invited to speak, an opportunity that we were happy to accept. At Quinzena’19, we presented Morfema Magazine and our past and present work at the studio, with presentations by RAS·A and Paulo Vale Afonso, one of its members. Paulo Vale Afonso also participated in the Expedition’19 series of talks, where he presented the session ‘Beyond (In)Formal’ alongside Olga Canales.”
