Quinzena’22
19.01 - 04.02.2021
‘Quinzena’, in its fourth edition, is a mini-festival of architecture, urban culture and spatial practices. It celebrates the anniversary of the building where INSTITUTO is located – the original design project by architect Júlio de Brito was submitted to Porto City Council on the 20th January 1955 and approved about two weeks later, on the 7th February. The record time approval of the project, in a fortnight (‘quinzena’ in Portuguese), is now celebrated annually with this series.
For the Quinzena’22, the goal was to cultivate a dialogue between practices and practitioners from Porto and those working or living abroad, in order to share perspectives and references that enrich the disciplinary discourse of architecture in the local context.
We invited 2 practitioners who live and work abroad to interact with local studios based in Porto. In the first session, Lara Ferreira, an architect and researcher from Porto working in Sao Paulo, invited Ana Jacinta Vieira and Fernanda Petrus, to debate their projects in Portugal and Brazil. In the second session, DF_DC - the architecture studio of Dario Franchini and Diego Calderón, based in London and Lugano - invited Architecture Matters and Diogo Aguiar Studio.
Participants:
Session 1: Lara Ferreira, Ana Jacinta Vieira, Fernanda Petrus
Session 2: DF_DC, Architecture Matters, Diogo Aguiar Studio
Quinzena'22 is supported by Criatório, Ágora – Cultura e Desporto, E.M.
