Sombras dos Dias Vermelhos
02 -16.03.2023
The exhibition Sombras dos Dias Vermelhos, a video installation by visual artist and filmmaker Tânia Moreira David, curated by Joana Braga, presented a series of decontextualized situations where bodies are either absent or fleeting presences, leaving vestigial traces in spaces with no apparent connection. The piece explores subtle perceptions and sensations tied to affective memory, captured at the threshold between places and objects.
The memory of the body’s experience in space emerges in a ghostly manner, with gestures and movements suggested by shadows, reflections, and displacements, often beginning outside the frame. Sound plays a central role in the work, reorganizing the surrounding space and adding depth and substance to the image. This sensory and haptic dimension deepens the connection between the body and space, revealing tactile memories—sometimes vivid, sometimes vague—in an ongoing, unresolved search.
Tânia Moreira David has a degree in Architecture and a master’s in Film Directing from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema (2016). As a visual artist and filmmaker, her work reflects a keen interest in the intersection of space, memory, and the body, and how these elements manifest through various visual media.
