How can cinema help us reflect on contemporary cities and the social, political, and environmental challenges of our time?
The 13th edition of the Arquiteturas Film Festival explores the theme “Urban Age” through a programme of films, debates, installations, and urban walks focused on the many dimensions of urban life.
Organised by INSTITUTO, the festival takes place across several venues in Porto and includes the Official, Guest, and Portugal Special sections.

More-Than Cinema
Guest Programme 2026

The AFF Guest Programme expands beyond the cinema space through an immersive installation presented at the exhibition space of INSTITUTO.
Presented by the Chair of Architecture and Urban Design at ETH Zürich and curated by Hubert Klumpner and Klearjos Eduardo Papanicolaou, “More-Than Cinema” is grounded in a central premise: cinema not only documents urban reality — it actively participates in how we imagine, experience, and transform it.
The programme brings together experimental film practices, sensory ethnographic research, and urban and architectural thinking, resulting in a body of works and experiences that explore infrastructures, atmospheres, urban ecosystems, and the relationships between human and more-than-human entities, proposing new ways of understanding the contemporary city.
