Máquina de toque
03-31.10.2024
INSTITUTO presents the project “Máquina para toque” by Soraia Gomes Teixeira, a lab-exhibition that offers a material experience focused on the act of touch. “Máquina para toque” is an object that allows a body to be touched. This object functions as a machine for revealing tensions in the reactions, gestures, and behaviors that emerge from an unexpected proximity.
Soraia Gomes Teixeira (1990) lives and works independently in Porto. Her design practice is based on research and the continuous exploration of various socially-driven materials, which, in her recent works, focus on human social and relational behaviors. Through objects, and sometimes their symbolic side, her work raises questions, proposes possibilities, and explores hypotheses of relationships between people and between the past and the future. Currently, alongside her professional practice, she is a guest professor of Design at the University of Minho and is pursuing a PhD in Art and Design Research at EINA - Centre Universitari de Disseny i Arte de Barcelona and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
